Woodland and Parterre Garden Restoration

This site posed several challenges - the biggest one being that a few overly vigorous perennials had previously been planted in the parterre.

We pay careful consideration to which cultivars and varieties are planted - creating lasting rhythm and balance is important.

Shaded areas were cleared and thousands of woodland bulbs/seeds planted including English bluebells, wild garlic and selfheal.

Plants were moved from other areas of the estate and many survived, despite having less-than-ideal root systems!

Parterre edges were restored with Pittosporum and the beds filled with airy coloured perennials.

Some shrubs required restoration pruning and we had great fun getting the Gunnera ready for winter!
